Active community volunteering - Bike maintenance (Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole)
Looking for a volunteer to help with basic bike maintenance within schools. This will be in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.
You can help make more active travel happen in your community. By repairing bicycles and providing helpful tips, you will support people to use their bicycles when travelling in their area. You will help within different parts of your local community, including in educational and workplace settings.
Doing bike maintenance activities, you will:
- help do repairs of bicycles in your area (tools provided)
- provide tips on bike care, when needed
- support and encourage people to make sustainable travel choices
- stay in touch with the local Sustrans team in your area, and with other local partner organisations
- complete some paperwork, when needed (e.g., records of repairs you have done).
You will get continued support and training from Sustrans and opportunities to learn more, if interested. There may be an opportunity to obtain Velotech accreditation according to your experience.

Time commitment
We are flexible on how much time you can help each week or month. Let us know what suits you.
Usually, people help for around 4 hours per month, but this varies. The sessions take place during the week (day or evening), and sometimes in weekends as part of an organised event.
