Do you want to see more people travelling sustainably in your local community? Help promote and inspire active travel and help share the benefits of walking, wheeling and cycling to people in your area.

You can do this in many ways and help with a range of different activities. These can be fitted according to your own skills and interests. You can help:

  • engage with local people by listening to their feedback on what they need to feel safer and support active travel for their local journeys
  • share flyers or posters locally
  • share knowledge about and discuss active travel within your local community, including at events
  • engage with other local volunteers and community groups
  • organise and set up stalls at local events, where relevant.

We are always interested to hear your ideas on how we can get more people engaged with sustainable and active travel in your community. We can chat about this together.

Does this sound like you?

You…

  • are interested in encouraging more people to walk, wheel and cycle in your area
  • feel comfortable communicating with people about being active
  • are willing to learn more about active travel and our work
  • can carry out tasks independently
  • share our values and mission to get more people cycling, walking and wheeling in your community.

Then let us know your interest in promoting active travel and creating connections with your local community.

Time commitment

We are flexible on how much time you can help each week or month. Let us know what suits you.

Volunteering for everyone with Sustrans

We believe that a diverse and inclusive organisation brings with it a diversity of ideas and ways of working, which strengthens everything we do.

Please have a look at the website above and our Volunteering agreement before you join. Then you know what we all expect from each other when volunteering.
