I Bike Communities volunteering (Perth & Kinross)

Opportunity image

As a part of our activities with I Bike Communities, we provide free walking, wheeling and cycling activities in your local area, for example; 'learn to ride' sessions with adults. They can be beginners or improvers and done individually, with families, or other groups. Training is made to fit the needs of the person you will support.

You can help with activities such as:

  • led walks
  • supporting adults and families with building their confidence cycling
  • helping provide road awareness and skills
  • introducing people to balance, gears and other basics of a cycle
  • taking people on different routes to show them places to cycle locally
  • introducing some to E-bikes and cargo bikes, when possible.
  • helping with Dr Bike sessions or maintenance classes

You decide whether you prefer to support people individually, in groups or both. Just let us know.

If you are a new or less confident cyclist yourself, we will provide you training and support before you support others. We can lend you a bicycle for the volunteering activities, if you don’t have one already. During your time volunteering we can also provide training with recognised qualifications such as Cycle Ride Leader, Bikeability Instructor, Cycle Trainer, First Aid, and Velotech (cycle mechanics).

Does this sound like you?

You…

  • enjoy being active and doing outdoor activities
  • can carry out tasks independently
  • enjoy engaging others with active travel for everyday journeys
  • are happy to support and motivate others to develop their cycling skills
  • share our values and mission to get more people cycling, walking and wheeling in your local area.

Then let us know your interest in helping with our I Bike Communities project near you.

Time commitment

We are flexible on how much time you can help each week or month. Let us know what suits you.
