Creative media volunteering - Photography (Cardiff)

We use photos for many different purposes as a charity. They help show everyone what we do, tell stories and inspire others to engage with active travel in their own neighbourhoods. You can help with your creative ideas and photography skills to show what walking, wheeling and cycling in your community can look like.

You can help with activities according to your own interests and skills. This could include:

• taking photos at local events and of activities related to our work
• organising photo shoots in your community
• helping with creating projects and be part of them to the end
• editing photographs, if needed
• sharing your images with Sustrans for social media, digital and/or print media.

Some tasks are home-based, while others will involve visiting locations of projects. We will provide you with training and support while volunteering.

You can try out the activities before you decide to continue. We can then see if this is for you, and if you feel comfortable with the photography tasks.

We are happy for you to use your own camera and equipment if you feel more comfortable using these. We will always credit you as the photographer of your photos added to our media library.

We are always interested to hear your ideas on how we can get more people engaged with sustainable and active travel. If you have any creative photo ideas, please just let us know in your application. We can have a chat about it together.

Please let us know in the application form, if you need any support or adjustments to make our first chat together and volunteering a positive experience for you.

Any expenses for helping with these activities, which have been agreed, will be paid back to you. This can include for tools and public transport on the day of volunteering.

If you don’t have an email address, or for any other reason aren’t able to fill in our online form, not to worry. Reach out to your local Volunteer Coordinator (find here), and they can fill in the details for you.

**We will ask you for the contact details of a person, who you have known for more than 6 months (1 reference). ** Please have these ready when filling in the application form. If you need support identifying a reference, please let us know.
